Randy Ingersoll's childhood was spent in the diverse environments of Southern California, Texas, North Carolina, and Virginia. After studying English at California Lutheran University and the University of California at Santa Barbara, he journeyed to Yellowstone National Park in 1979 for a summer job as a dishwasher at Old Faithful. He never looked back.
Having found a home in Yellowstone, he worked for eighteen years in the park's lodging reservations office, then in 1998 began his dream job as a pianist and presenter of park history talks at the Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel.
His passion for exploring Yellowstone's backcountry landed Randy in the path of a mohter grizzly bear with cubs in 1994. She charged, and though the resulting injuries were minor, the effect on his life was major. The close encounter with such a powerful symbol of wilderness solidified Randy's passion for the park and empowered him with an even deeper appreciation for life.
Randy's slide presentation, "Music and Yellowstone -- A Natural Connection," explores the connection between his two great loves -- music and Yellowstone. View historic and scenic slides of Yellowstone National Park accompanied by live background piano music. The program lasts approximately 45 minutes.
